What's new - Canterbury Stories

William Trethewey, Sculptor

Recently published on Canterbury Stories are the Trethewey papers – a collection of Christchurch sculptor William Trethewey that includes scrapbooks, photographs, negatives, press clippings and other papers. The material records projects Trethewey was involved with including the Kaiapoi War Memorial, Citizens' War Memorial, Captain Cook statue, the 1940s Centennial, and exhibitions at the Canterbury Society of Arts.

Harry Ell, Politician and Summit Road advocate

Also new to Canterbury Stories are the Harry Ell papers, a selection of material covering the career and interests of Harry Ell a Christchurch City Councillor, New Zealand member of Parliament, and a promoter of the Summit Road. The collection includes letter books, scrapbooks, photographs, and a Visitors’ book which has signatures, dates, names and notes from walkers of the Parkinson's Bush Reserve 1916-1926.
